I didn’t grow up on Bollywood, or Lollywood for that matter. But over time, my appreciation for cinema has deepened, leading me back to my roots. While I’ve been catching up on many famous films, there are even more that have shaped the physical and social history of South Asian cinema. I’m now on a mission to clear out my Desi watchlist by any means necessary, and rank these films against one another as I go.
